Happy Spring! March was a fantastic month, thanks to all of you who made a purchase. As you know, my sales are what keeps this project alive! If you like what you see, don’t wait! Please support your indie artist friend (me). I’ve got my usual updates for you this month, so I’m going to get right to it.
I just showed some artwork at San Diego Indiefest 9 last weekend. (Photos are on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Thanks to Paul and Thumbprint Gallery for the invitation.) Overall, it was a great experience. I made some sales and met a few new artist friends. One artist in particular encouraged me to build my YouTube page. He told me he’s making about $1500/month on YouTube making how-to videos. I have a channel, but I haven’t posted much on it yet. Would you guys like to see some videos? What would you like to see? Let me know in the comments. I have made one video, so far, to show my inspiration for the Twelfth Doctor’s caricature. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT9kUkiolzg
New Artwork for Sale
I’m starting to get pretty busy with my freelance illustration work so I’m not sure how many of these movie caricatures I’ll be able to pump out in a month. I enjoy doing it, so I’m setting up a Patreon page to help with the cost. (I’ll post an update when my page and my video are ready.) The first caricature is from my favorite Western, 1993’s Tombstone. It’s not very historically accurate, but it’s action-packed and a lot of fun. Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Doc Holliday is unforgettable. I think this is some of my best work yet, and it holds the record for the shortest amount of time between my posting it online and making a sale. (Thanks!) The second is another Doctor Who caricature, this time featuring the Ninth (and sorely underrated), Christopher Eccleston. Doctor Who stuff is still my top seller overall, so I’d be a fool not to make more. This completes my series of New Who caricatures; I’m watching the classic series so I can get an appreciation and a feel for the Classic Doctors. Click the images below to buy the new work on phone cases, women’s leggings, money pouches, wall tapestries, duvet covers, tee shirts, mugs, pillows, etc. I’ve got lots of options, so please shop around!
Top sellers for March 2015
My top sellers for March 2015 are my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles posters on metal and paper canvas and my pug design printed on stickers, tees, and duvet covers. Lilly is the pug that kicked off Doodle My Dog, so I’m glad to see the positive response! (Get your own four-legged friend’s portrait here.) Please click the images below to get one of your own. If you don’t wish to buy at this time, I appreciate every share, like, and comment. If you don’t like my stuff, maybe one of your friends might! Thanks in advance for your support of indie artists.
Top blog post for March 2015
My top blog for March was my essay on why you shouldn’t vote Democrat or Republican. Or Libertarian. Maybe with April 15th rapidly approaching, people want to see what their taxes are paying for? (Hint: It’s not good.) Maybe Obama’s flirtation with mandatory voting drove my readers here? I don’t know. I’ve given up talking politics on social media (Here’s why), but it’s encouraging to see that people are still interested in my thoughts about the subject.
Got a suggestion?
Please drop me a line if you’d like to get in touch with me for any reason. I’m taking illustration orders, so let’s chat! -Steve
